The Mineralogical Museum gaio-ORAMA:

  • welcomes regular visits from pupils of primary and secondary education. From this school year, the development of thematic projects, related to a wide range of subjects around mineral raw materials, is initiated in collaboration with the teachers, and will be presented during pupils’ visits to gaio-ORAMA,
  • organizes events on the International Museum Day (18th of May), as well as on the day of St. Barbara, patron saint of miners (4th of December), with thematic speeches and discussions, open to the public. Indicatively, the themes of the events for 2018-2019 were: “One night at the Museum. Looking for Meteors in Antarctica”, “School of Mining and Metallurgical Engineering. Science and Technology beyond limits”, and “School of Mining and Metallurgical Engineering. Tribute to the industry’s female engineer”, and for 2019-2020: “From the lamp of Davy’s miners to the use of explosives in Art”

  • takes part in open events that aim to bring the public closer to aspects of science and technology, through fun, innovative and interactive ways, such as the Researcher Night and the Athens Science Festival,
  • participates in training programs and activities of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology for EIT Raw Materials, within the Wider Society Learning, such as RM@Schools for Eastern and Southeastern Europe (RM@Schools ESEE 2020-2022) and Virtual Mine,RM@Schools ESEE 2020-2022) και το Virtual Mine,
  • develops a network of collaborations with other relevant University Museums and Collections, as well as institutions of education, research and industry, aiming to design joint and/or complementary educational programs related to mineral raw materials.
